Things First Time Renters Should Know About Car Hires
Getting your first rental car feels great. It gives you the freedom to go where you want, when you want. But before you drive off, there are some simple things to learn. Your first-time rental checklist is given below.
Check your own insurance
Before you hire a car in Dubai, talk to your own car insurance company. Ask them what they cover for a rental car. You might already have some protection. This can save you money. You will not have to buy extra insurance from the rental company if you are already covered.
Inspect the car carefully
When you pick up the car, take your time to look at it. Walk around the vehicle and check for any scratches, dents, or marks. Ensure the rental worker writes these down on your paperwork. Take pictures or a video with your phone. This proves the condition of the car when you got it. It stops the company from charging you for damage you did not cause.
Understand the fuel policy
Rental companies have different rules for fuel. The most common policy is ‘full-to-full’. This means you get the car with a full tank, and you must return it with a full tank. Find a gas station near the rental office before you return the car. This helps you avoid high extra fees for fuel.
Know the rules for drivers
Only the person who signed the rental contract is usually allowed to drive the car. If a friend or family member wants to drive, you must add them as an extra driver at the rental desk. There is often a small fee for this. It is very important to do this. If an unlisted person drives and there is a problem, your insurance might not work.
Avoid extra fees for tolls
Many roads have electronic tolls. The rental company can offer you a small device that pays these tolls automatically. This is easy, but it comes with extra daily fees. A better idea is to check the route you will take. You can often use your own money on a prepaid card or find roads that do not have tolls.
